Alternatives To Banking…

by Heather on December 7, 2011

Many people don’t realize that there are other alternatives out there besides these big banks. There are Community Banks and Credit Unions in virtually every neighborhood. People also may not realize that most Credit Unions are open to everyone. They were originally established at the national level under the 1934 Federal Credit Union Act and were associated with labor or worship affiliations. But like I said, most are OPEN TO ALL today. Credit Unions are non-profit, member-owned institutions that are highly capable and ready to assist you with your banking needs.

Did you know that since 2007, the credit union membership in the U.S. has increased 86.8 million to more than 91 million, according to figures from the National Credit Union Administration? Total assets have increased from $755 billion to $942.5 billion at more than 7,290 credit union organizations. I don’t know what you take from this growth and activity in the credit unions but to me it says people are sick and tired of all of the drama on Wall Street and are trying to do something about it by moving their banking business to credit unions.

Young adults graduating from college, starting a new career and perhaps a family are simply not all going to be able to or willing to concede their hard earned money so readily to these Big Banks for unnecessary fees.  And that’s what will happen with all of the fees that are scattered throughout. That’s why I think we are seeing a shift in banking and people realize that there are other options and the Credit Unions are an awesome choice. I know at Truliant Federal Credit Union they truly serve the local community and provide a high level of personalized customer service. They have so many unique services that will appeal to both the young and older adults. Online Services, Checking & Savings Accounts, Credit & Debit Cards, Loans, Member Contact Center, Dollar Dog Kids Club and sooo much more… Check them out today at TruliantFCU.org!
