I keep seeing stories about something called Bank Transfer Day on November 5th and decided to check it out. I’m not sure I know a lot more than I did before, but what I did discover was that I could join a credit union. I just picked an article, clicked on a few links and ended up on a site called CULookup.com to find out that I was eligible to join several different credit unions.
Yeah!
I’m trying to be more frugal and knew that I could probably get a better deal than my bank was giving me. I resented some of the articles referring to consumers as lazy, but knew deep down that I was one of those. With my crazy schedule and frenetic life, the minute I encountered any type of hassle, I would bail on the process of switching my accounts.
No worries. I survived the process. Truliant was the credit union that I chose and I found a “switch kit” on their website. I used the forms to move my direct deposit, sent a few emails to my old bank, made one phone call to Truliant (which ended up being rather pleasant) and managed to switch everything over rather painlessly.
Now I can proudly say that I made the switch – I am a member-owner of Truliant!
