Truliant Federal Credit Union Employee To Receive Women Of Vision Award

04/02/2008

Winston-Salem, N.C. (March 31, 2008) – Whenever Marjorie Rorie, director of community services for Truliant Federal Credit Union is not coordinating financial literacy, grant workshops and programs for “underserved” and multicultural markets for the company, she attends board meetings and writes grants in her spare time to help sustain nonprofit agencies. Rorie has made a career out of helping the community in which she lives. Her dedication has not gone unnoticed as she will be a recipient of the 2008 “Women of Vision” Awards from the YWCA of Winston-Salem.

“I am proud to be a part of Truliant; an organization passionate about serving the needs of their members and just as importantly, the needs of those in the community,” said Rorie. I feel it is important to give back to the community and have therefore always been attracted to positions where I can truly make a difference.”

As the Director of Community services for Truliant, Rorie designs and implements strategies to reach new and existing members in various markets. These strategies include financial literacy workshops, scholarship and grant programs, new products promotions, advertising and sponsorships. Prior to her employment at Truliant, she worked as the Director for Community and Partnership Development with Communities In Schools of High Point, Inc. and Director of the Small Business Center for Randolph Community College. She also worked in financial services for 12 years as an independent securities and insurance agent.

Rorie’s community involvement extends to several boards and committees in Winston-Salem and in High Point where she lives. She is board chair for the Macedonia Family Resource Center, board secretary for Nia Community Action Center and board vice president of the RISE, Inc. She is also active on the Latino Family Center and Neighbors for Better Neighborhood boards.

The YWCA’s “Women of Vision” Awards Luncheon will take place on Thursday, April 3, from noon to 1:30 pm at the M.C. Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Susan Pauley, President of Salem Academy and College
