Winston-Salem, N.C. (April 2, 2009) – Fresh off the heels of a prediction from Edmunds.com that car sales were appearing to have a 42% decline, Truliant Federal Credit Union saw a 426% increase in its auto loan program in March when compared to the same period in 2008.
“The lending department is staying extremely busy to say the least,” said Troy Martens, vice president of consumer and real estate lending for Truliant. “Our rates have always been competitive and that is even more so in the current economic environment. In conjunction with having great rates, we also have great relationships with various dealers and they know that when they send customers to Truliant that we can get the job done.”
Consumers are definitely buying vehicles, but Truliant has found that the used vs. new ratio is leaning heavily in one direction as 82% of its auto loans in March were for used vehicles.
