$1 MILLION IN CHANGE SAVED
Winston-Salem, N.C. (December 2, 2009) – “Pennies truly do add up,” at least that’s the case for Truliant Federal Credit Union’s Rainy Day savings account. In less than 14 months the credit union’s members have saved more than $1 million by taking part in the special savings account.
“Saving money isn’t always easy,” said Donnie Peaks, Truliant’s director of deposit services and creator of the Rainy Day account. “Our goal was to come up with a systematic savings account that made it easy for members to save. Hitting the $1 million in savings mark feels great because we’ve truly helped our members save a substantial amount of money. Best of all, they’ve saved without a lot of effort or hurdles.”
At the end of each business day, members that have signed up for the account have everything to the right of the decimal in their checking account transferred to their Rainy Day savings account.
“So far more than 5,200 members have signed up for the account,” said Peaks. “The average transfer tends to change from day-to-day, but it tends to range between 47 – 54 cents each day.”
Truliant’s Rainy Day savings account makes it clear that saving money doesn’t have to be difficult, and they’ve clearly proven that “Pennies truly do add up.”
