Political involvement

Political involvement is key to the future of credit unions as the current legislative and judicial issues facing credit unions are recognized to be long-term and ongoing challenges. As part of Truliant’s continued commitment to protect consumers and our member-owners, we maintain an active involvement with elected officials.

Most recently, Truliant President/CEO, Marc Schaefer, joined by other Truliant staff and volunteers met with elected officials in Washington, D.C. Discussions centered on current issues, as well as an appeal to Congress for their continued support of credit union’s not-for-profit, tax-exempt status. This unique structure of credit unions, allows us to return earnings to our member-owners in the form of higher deposit rates, lower loan rates and fewer fees.
