What is the Credit Card Act?
The Credit Card Accountability and Disclosure Act of 2009 was signed May 22, 2009, to enact comprehensive credit card reform. We, along with the other financial institutions, are working behind the scenes updating our systems and communications to provide the most seamless and helpful experience possible for our members.
The Act protects consumer credit card users from unfair practices such as arbitrary interest rate increases and misleading terms. Among other reforms, it also gives consumers the right to opt out of certain term changes, and sets new requirements for how account payments are applied.
What is Truliant doing in response to the Credit Card Act?
We have always looked out for members from the beginning, so most of the beneficial changes to you required by this act Truliant was already doing.
Will there be any changes on my Truliant Visa statement?
Statement – Your statement will continue to look the same, but will now include information for paying off your balance. For example, the statement will now reflect what the minimum payment would be to pay off the balance in 3 years. The statement will also show long it will take to pay off the balance if only the minimum payment was to be made.
