Smith Joins Truliant as Business Services Officer

Winston-Salem, N.C. (May 15, 2014) – Truliant Federal Credit Union recently announced the hiring of Fred Smith as business service officer.

Smith came to Truliant from High Point Bank with more than eight years of Triad commercial banking experience. In his new role with Truliant, He will deliver business products and services tailored to meet the unique needs of member-owners and support long-term growth. Smith will work out of the Friendly Member Financial Center with primary responsibilities for Greensboro and surrounding areas.

“As a resident of Greensboro since 2000, Fred brings a wealth of local market and lending knowledge to our team,” said Rob McFarland, Truliant’s vice president of business services. “We’re thrilled to welcome him to the Truliant family as he leverages his experience in finance, as well as, his knowledge of and connections to the Triad area while working to deliver our mission of improving the financial lives of everyone in community.”

Most recently, Smith served as commercial relationship manager with High Point Bank and Trust, where he also worked as a government lending specialist. Prior, Smith has worked with Sun Trust Bank, First Horizon Bank and as a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley and MetLife Resources. Smith has more than 15 years in financial experience, including eight in the Triad.

Smith received his Business Management degree from Shaw University in Raleigh and has a life and health license with the State of North Carolina, Department of Insurance, as well as, accreditations through the National Association of Securities Dealers, in addition to several real estate and risk management certifications. Smith serves on the High Point Area Arts Council board of directors.
