Truliant $100,000 MyWhy Contest To Fulfill Four Individuals’ Dreams

Truliant $100,000 MyWhy Contest To Fulfill Four Individuals’ Dreams

Release date: 3/27/2015

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (March 27, 2015) –  Truliant Federal Credit Union initiated a contest this week that will award four $25,000 prizes to four individuals who submit a video or photo with an explanation of how and “why” $25,000 would help them improve their life.

Truliant is launching its MyWhysm campaign to learn all the remarkable reasons that make people want to improve their lives. The contest is open to all individuals that are eligible for Truliant membership who live in the communities they serve, not just members of the credit union.

“Our MyWhy campaign springs from our mission statement. Simply stated, Truliant exists to improve lives by providing personalized guidance, which prioritizes members’ well-being over profits,” said Karen DeSalvo, Chief Marketing Officer at Truliant.

“This initiative celebrates all the reasons that make us want to improve our own lives and the lives of our families. Whether you need more space for your growing family, an SUV to haul your children or funds for your college education – we look forward to hearing how we can help you achieve your goals. Your “why” is our “why.”

Entrants in the contest can upload, or record, a short 15-second video of their “why,” and how Truliant can help them get there at www.truliantmywhy.com or by downloading the free Truliant #MyWhy mobile App for Apple or Android smart phones. They can also submit entries via #MyWhy @Truliant on Twitter and Instagram. Photo entries accompanied by a brief explanation will also be accepted from these social media channels.

The credit union will also participate in eight upcoming community events in Charlotte and the Piedmont Triad where entries can be recorded using Truliant’s #MyWhy video booths. A complete listing of events can be found at www.truliant.org. Entries will be accepted until midnight on May 23, 2015.

After submitting their “why,” participants can earn votes by sharing entries on social media networks and encouraging friends and family to vote. Anyone can vote by: Sharing or Liking a video through Facebook; voting on the TruliantMyWhy.com website; making a Tweet a Favorite or Retweeting the video or photo on Twitter; or giving it a Heart on Instagram.

The money will be awarded in three regions: two winners from Charlotte and surrounding areas, one from the Piedmont Triad, and a fourth from one of the other communities that Truliant serves. Twenty-five entries with the highest number of votes in each region will be reviewed by Truliant’s MyWhy Panel who will make the final selection. Truliant will award $25,000 to four winners to help make their “whys” come true. For full details, visit www.truliant.org. Winners will be selected in early June.

“Truliant is here to improve lives. We are excited to learn all the reasons that make you want to improve your life and the lives of your families, and how we can help you achieve your goals,” Truliant’s DeSalvo said. “What would you do if you had an extra $25,000?”

The MyWhy campaign supports a Truliant expansion that began with the opening of new locations in Burlington and Winston-Salem last year. Earlier this week, Truliant announced plans to open ten new Member Financial Center in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region, where the expansion will create more than 120 jobs and an $11 million dollar initial investment.
