Truliant Opens Application Period for 2016 Scholarships

Winston-Salem, N.C. (Jan. 15, 2016) – High-school seniors entering an accredited two- or four-year college or university and are members of Truliant Federal Credit Union can apply for one of several $1,000 scholarships the financial institution awards annually.
Truliant scholarships are one of the ways that the credit union rewards high achievers among high school students in each of the regions it serves in the Carolinas and Virginia. The scholarship application period opens on January 4, 2016 and must be completed online.
The application is available online at Applications must be received no later than March 4, 2016 to be considered. For the 2016 awards, applicants will be asked to list academic and extracurricular achievements, and to write a brief essay, among other items.
The scholarships are awarded through the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation’s (CCUF) Scholar Vision Funds. Scholarship winners will be named in the Spring and recognized in at Truliant’s annual meeting on Monday, April 25, 2016.
In 2015, Truliant awarded eight $1,000 scholarships from two of its scholarship funds: the Fred J.  Sarda Fund and the Clyde O. Padgett Fund.
Fred J. Sarda Scholarships are awarded by Truliant to student member-owners who are graduating high school who plan to attend an accredited college, community college or university. The Clyde Padgett Scholarship is awarded to a son or daughter of a Truliant employee or member of the Board of Directors.
Additionally, students can apply through Truliant’s website for Carolinas Credit Union Foundation Needs-Based Scholarships for students with an income-based financial need for scholarship funding.
Truliant began establishing CCUF scholarship funds nearly two decades ago as a benefit to member-owners attaining a post-secondary education.
