Saving for Christmas in July

Contributed by:

My family celebrates Christmas in November. We eat our turkey, go to the movies and then open up Christmas presents. I’m not quite sure when this tradition began, but it somehow stuck.

Spring Cleaning… well now Summer Cleaning!

Contributed by:

When I pack away my winter wardrobe, I give my apartment a good, top-to-bottom, thorough cleaning; otherwise known as spring cleaning… however, with all the crazy weather these past few months, it’s now Summer Cleaning! I’m armed with Windex in one hand and Pledge in the other. My cat scurries under my bed and trembles in fear, as should everything in my apartment, because no corner goes untouched. It’s a lot of hard work, but it’s refreshing to know everything is scrubbed down, cleaned and ready for the new season.

So Refreshing…

You know that sound you make after a big gulp of ice cold sweet tea on a hot summer day?  That sound that means something was so refreshing?

Summer on Trade

Contributed by:

When I was in high school, there was a concert series called Marion by Moonlight.  My friends and I would pack a picnic dinner with a blanket and go down to the town square every Thursday night to hear local Jazz, Latin, and Rockabilly bands play. I loved going to hear new music surrounded my friends in a relaxing environment, tucked away in the historical district of the little town Marion, Iowa. Thursday was, by far, my favorite day in the Summer.

Preparing for College?

Contributed by:

The final school bell has rung and kids are out for the Summer. Many have graduated and are busy preparing for college or other post-high school activities.

Wouldn’t it be great to help them with financial planwhile they are still young and eager to learn about sound financial habits?  You can help them today, even if they’re still in diapers. It’s never too soon to start saving for college and their future. Tuitions are rising, as is the cost of practically everything that goes along with it!  Even saving a little each month will add up when they graduate.
