What I'd Wish I'd Known Earlier - Simple Investing

Video Transcript

There are so many things that I wish I had known about money before I became an adult, and was just forced to figure out all this stuff. So today, let's talk about one of those things that I wish I had known before I was thrown into the adult world. And that is that you do not need to be some type of investing expert or, like, a stock-trading genius in order to invest your money and retire.

I think there's this, like, story around the fact that, you know, investing is so complex, and there are so many terms, and it could be extremely overwhelming. But investing, in reality, can be extremely simple and very boring. Like, I mean, for me, I check in on my investment accounts maybe once every three or four months just to make sure everything's going okay. And then, you know, I get notifications every month about deposits. But other than that, I just leave it alone because you don't need to be thinking about this all the time. It does not need to be something that consumes your life.

There are so many brilliant investors out there. Like Warren Buffett, for example, was considered to be one of the greatest investors of all time. He even recommends to his own family to invest in something like low-cost index funds within their retirement plan - that's all you need to do.

And so, I don't want you to feel like you need to spend years in school or training to understand how to invest your money. It does not need to be that complex. But if even me mentioning something like low-cost index funds makes you feel overwhelmed, and like, 'I don't even understand what that is,' I want you to keep coming back here to Money Burst and I'll help you I'll guide you in future videos on how to understand all these random finance terms, understand that this is something that you can take on, on your own.
