  • We're here for you when there are insufficient funds in your account to cover a transaction. We offer built-in overdraft protection for checks and other transactions using your checking account number on all Truly Free, Advantage and Senior Advantage checking accounts. We also offer, as an option, extended overdraft protection called Balance Backup that applies overdraft protection to everyday debit and ATM transactions.

    • Balance Backup offers optional overdraft protection on everyday debit and ATM transactions
    • The next deposit into your account will be used to pay the amount of the overdraft.

    Anyone who qualifies for Truliant's Truly Free, Advantage or Senior Advantage checking accounts or who has qualified for a Preferred Line of Credit is eligible for our Balance Backup Overdraft Protection.

  • What are the standard overdraft practices that are offered with my account?

    Truliant will first attempt to draft from your savings account for a $2 fee. If the funds in your savings account are unavailable, your checking account will strive to pay transactions made using your checking account number or recurring drafts using your debit card number for a $29 fee.  You can extend that coverage to include everyday debit and ATM transactions by adding Balance Backup to your account.

    What fee(s) will I be charged if Truliant pays my overdraft?

    Under our standard overdraft practices, including the optional Balance Backup service:

    • We will charge you a fee of $29 each time we pay an overdraft.
    • There is no limit on the total fees we can charge you for overdrawing your account.

    What types of additional transactions are covered with Balance Backup?

    How do I sign up for the extended coverage of Balance Backup?

    • Balance Backup is optional coverage that offers overdraft protection for everyday debit and ATM transactions. To add Balance Backup as additional overdraft protection on any Basic, Advantage or Senior Advantage checking account, click here. 

    Note: Truliant pays basic and Balance Backup overdrafts at our sole discretion, which means we do not guarantee to authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined.
