WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Sept. 26, 2019) – Truliant Federal Credit Union is now accepting applications from community schools until Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019 for classroom grants from the Truliant Financial Education Fund.
Truliant’s Financial Education Grant program provides funds up to $5,000 to public school teachers, grades 6-12, who wish to incorporate financial education initiatives into their classroom curriculum.
Funds can be used to improve existing programs or to implement a new program. Topics may include budgeting, saving, investing, entrepreneurship, business and economics.
Truliant will distribute a total of $200,000 in financial literacy education grants through 2020. The grant fund was launched in 2016 in celebration of the credit union reaching the 200,000 member-owner milestone and growth surpassing $2 billion in assets.
Financial education grants provide funding to school systems in communities where the credit union has Member Financial Center locations. Truliant has a total of 32 locations in North and South Carolina, and Virginia.
Teachers may apply individually or collaborate and apply as a department. A preliminary budget is required to demonstrate how the funds will be spent. Teachers can access the grant application by visiting truliant.org/schoolgrants.
Grant recipients will be selected through an internal review process. Completed applications, including all documentation required, should be submitted by Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019, at 11:59 PM EST.
