12/12/2012 - Truliant Hosts Cancer Prevention Study

Winston-Salem, N.C. (Dec. 13, 2012) – Truliant joined the movement for less cancer and more birthdays by serving as a host site for the American Cancer Society’s third Cancer Prevention Study (CPS-3). This study will provide long term research based out of North Carolina to help determine the underlying cause of cancer.

12/4/2012 - Truliant and FOX8 Announce Winner of "Mortgage for a Year" Contest

Winston-Salem, N.C. (Dec. 5, 2012) – Truliant Federal Credit Union and FOX8 (WGHP) are proud to announce that Patricia Shue from High Point won our “Mortgage for a Year” contest. According to the terms of the contest the winner will have their monthly mortgage or rent payments paid by Truliant for a year.

11/19/2012 - New River Valley Truck Plant FCU Merger

Winston-Salem, N.C. (Nov. 20, 2012) – New River Valley Truck Plant Federal Credit Union’s members have approved a merger with Truliant Federal Credit Union. The merger extends additional affordable financial services to employees of the Volvo truck manufacturing facility in Dublin, VA and their family members. The New River Valley Truck Plant FCU had over $2.4 million in assets and served more than 900 members.

11/15/2012 - Credit Union Joins Forces with FOX8 (WGHP) to Host Contest

Winston-Salem, N.C. (Nov. 16, 2012) – Truliant Federal Credit Union recently joined forces with FOX8 (WGHP) to launch the “Mortgage for a Year” contest, in which a winner from the Triad area will have his or her monthly mortgage payments paid for a year by Truliant. The submission deadline for entries for the contest is Sunday, November 25.

11/12/2012 - Truliant Celebrates 60 Years of Helping Members

Winston-Salem, N.C. (Nov. 13, 2012) – Truliant Federal Credit Union is excited to be celebrating their 60th anniversary. Located in Winston-Salem, NC; the credit union was founded in 1952 to serve the employees of Western Electric, starting with 2,000 members and $100,000 in assets. First known as Radio Shops Credit Union, the organization later became known as AT&T Family Federal Credit Union. In August 1999, they changed their name to Truliant Federal Credit Union to more accurately reflect the growing and diversified member-owner base.

11/11/2012 - Truliant Gives Aid to Victims of Sandy

Winston-Salem, NC - The recent devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy has Truliant Federal Credit Union partnering with the American Red Cross to help victims. Canisters have been placed at 11 Truliant member financial centers in Forsyth, Guilford, Alamance and Randolph counties to collect donations to help storm victims in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions of the United States. Canisters will be available at Truliant member financial centers until Tuesday, November 20.

10/24/2012 - Manning Named Director of Real Estate Lending

Winston-Salem, N.C. (Oct. 25, 2012) – Truliant recently named John Manning as their director of real estate lending. In this position, Manning will manage and protect assets held in the real estate loan portfolio on behalf of Truliant and its member-owners. The real estate loan portfolio consists of first mortgages, construction loans as well as home equity lines of credit and loans. In addition, Manning will assist training employees and managing workflow within the department.

10/23/2012 - 2012 International Credit Union Day Celebration

Winston-Salem, N.C. (Oct. 24, 2012) — Credit union members around the world celebrated International Credit Union Day on October 18 with parades, festivals, contests and open houses to help commemorate the credit union movement’s impact and achievements.

9/30/2012 - Hall Named Chief Operating Officer

Winston-Salem, N.C. (Sept. 24, 2012) – Truliant Federal Credit Union recently named Todd Hall chief operating officer. Reporting to the president and CEO, Hall will work at Truliant headquarters in Winston-Salem, where he will assume direct responsibility for leading the operations senior team encompassing consumer, mortgage and business credit areas, as well as all member delivery channels including Member Financial Centers, the Member Contact Center and E-Services. Through his expertise and leadership, Hall will help Truliant further enhance its member-owners’ experience through all of its delivery channels.

9/26/2012 - Truliant Helped Build Habitat for Humanity House if Forsyth County

Winston-Salem, N.C. (Sept. 27, 2012) – The senior management team at Truliant Federal Credit Union recently volunteered to help build a home with Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County. The house was framed by the Career Center and then moved to its new location in the Trent Hill neighborhood. Habitat of Forsyth County has a partnership with the school system that enables students at the Career Center to learn while volunteers, like Truliant’s team, help complete the home. In addition, Truliant also donated $1,000 to Habitat for Humanity.

9/5/2012 - Sands named Manager, Business Services Credit Administration at Truliant Federal Credit Union

Winston-Salem, N.C. (September 6, 2012) – Truliant Federal Credit Union recently named Bob Sands Manager, Business Services Credit Administration. Sands will work out of Truliant headquarters in Winston-Salem, where he will manage the MFC-focused small business loan program, the SBA express program and administrative functions within his department. Sands joins Truliant with more than 30 years of financial and commercial lending experience including underwriting and business development.

8/26/2012 - Truliant Gives Greenville Nonprofits a Boost

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (August 27, 2012) – The economy might be faltering, but Truliant has just the answer for Greenville nonprofits. The Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands, Inc., Greenville County Human Relations Commission and CredAbility received a mini-grant for a total of $2,500 to help with overhead expenses. Over 150 organizations in North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina applied for Truliant Community Mini-Grant Program funds.

8/13/2012 - Truliant Gives 29 Nonprofit Agencies a Boost

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (August 14, 2012) – While the economic landscape is still making it difficult for non-profits to secure funding, Truliant has awarded 29 non-profit organizations mini-grants up $1000 to support their operations. Over 150 organizations in Truliant’s North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina markets applied to receive Community Mini-Grant Program funds.

8/7/2012 - Nominations Being Accepted for 2012

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (August 8, 2012) – The Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2012 Truliant Federal Credit Union Small Business Award through August 31. The award will recognize small businesses for their success and contributions to the local community. Truliant and the Chamber have been huge supporters of local small businesses and this year these businesses will be recognized during the Chamber’s annual meeting in October. The recipients will also have the opportunity to showcase their companies at this meeting.

8/6/2012 - Higgins named New Member Financial Center Manager at Truliant Federal Credit Union

Winston-Salem, N.C. (August 7, 2012) – Truliant Federal Credit Union has named Edwin Higgins as the new Member Financial Center Manager of its North Point, Winston-Salem location, where he will direct the financial center toward its goal of serving member-owner needs. Edwin joined Truliant with more than five years of management and development experience.

7/25/2012 - Truliant Federal Credit Union Presents at the National Academy Foundation (NAF)

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (July 26, 2012) – Brian Gaither, Branch Coordinator with Truliant Federal Credit Union, joined representatives of the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools at the annual meeting of the National Academy Foundation (NAF) in Washington, D.C. recently to present the details of the partnership between Truliant Federal Credit Union and local students through a collaborative effort called The Finance Academy. This career-themed curriculum provides the students with project based, hands-on learning in the area of finance in addition to their classroom instruction.

7/15/2012 - Truliant Partners with Forsyth Education Partnership on School Supply Drive

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (July 16, 2012) – Truliant Federal Credit Union is proud to support the Forsyth Education Partnership’s (FEP) Educator Warehouse by conducting a school supply drive at all of the credit union’s Forsyth County Member Financial Centers July 16 – August 17. The “Fill the Bus” School Supply Drive offers a way for businesses, community groups, members and employees to donate school supplies and other items that can find a new use in a classroom.

6/27/2012 - Local Credit Union Nationally Recognized for its Commitment to its Mission

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 28, 2012) – Truliant Federal Credit Union was recently featured in Forbes Magazine’s online edition for the Credit Union’s focus on its mission. The article, written by August Turak, business consultant and author, features a glowing review of Truliant’s single-minded commitment to its mission of service that has allowed the Credit Union to avoid the risky excesses of the financial bubble that crippled so many of its peers and drove so many others into bankruptcy.

6/27/2012 - Truliant FCU Receives Award for Assisting Community with Tax Preparation

Winston-Salem, N.C. (June 28, 2012) – The NC Credit Union League honored Truliant Federal Credit Union (TFCU) for its community involvement efforts in 2011. TFCU won second place in the statewide Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award category. The credit union received its award June 11 at a recognition banquet at the 77th Annual Meeting of the NC Credit Union League.

6/19/2012 - Truliant Employee Selected for International Credit Union Leadership Program

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 20, 2012) – Truliant lending specialist Mayra Gamarra was recently selected to participate in the International Credit Union Leadership Program as one of nine U.S. credit union professionals travelling to Guatemala June 10-23. The World Council of Credit Unions conducted interviews, and Gamarra was selected to participate in this prestigious program where she will live with a host family and intern at a Guatemalan credit union.

5/22/2012 - Truliant Awards Scholarship at Hispanic League's Spanish Nite Gala

Winston-Salem, N.C. (May 23, 2012) - Truliant Federal Credit Union sponsored a table, presented a scholarship and received a sponsorship award at the Hispanic League’s 13th Annual Scholarship Awards and Spanish Nite Gala held at the Embassy Suites on Saturday, April 28, 2012. The Hispanic League awarded a record 31 students with scholarships.

5/16/2012 - Truliant Provides Grants for Nonprofit Agencies

Winston-Salem, N.C. (May 17, 2012) - Truliant Federal Credit Union is pleased to invite nonprofit organizations to submit applications for the Truliant Community Mini Grant Program. Mini grants for $1000 will be made to nonprofits for operational expenses to support programs and/or projects. Organizations should complete and return their application to Truliant no later than June 29, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. in order to be considered.

5/7/2012 - Truliant Opens New Full-Service Shelby Location

Shelby, N.C. (May 8, 2012) – After 20 years in Shelby, NC, Truliant Federal Credit Union has relocated to a new full-service Member Financial Center in Cleveland County. Truliant’s new facility, located at 621 S. DeKalb Street, Suite 2, is less than two miles away from their previous location. The new location opened on May 7, 2012.

5/6/2012 - Truliant Federal Credit Union Awards Eleven Scholarships

Winston-Salem, N.C. (May 7, 2012) – In the continued spirit of giving back to the community, Truliant Federal Credit Union has awarded 11 educational and financial need scholarships, totaling $15,000, to their member-owners through the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation (CCUF) Scholar Vision Funds.

4/29/2012 - Truliant Holds Grant Workshop at Nussbaum Center

Greensboro, N.C. (April 30, 2012) - Truliant Federal Credit Union will conduct a free grant workshop on Saturday, May 19, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship at 2007 Yanceyville Street in Greensboro.

3/28/2012 - Truliant Employee Takes the Lead to Benefit Bethesda Center

Winston-Salem, N.C. (March 29, 2012) – Truliant Federal Credit Union’s Cristen Fletcher will dance in front of hundreds of people at the 3rd Annual Take the Lead Winston-Salem competition, a Dancing with the Stars-type format, on Thursday, April 12 at the Benton Convention Center in downtown Winston-Salem. Proceeds from this popular event will benefit the Bethesda Center for the Homeless.

3/14/2012 - Truliant Wins National Best Practice Award

Winston-Salem, N.C. (March 15, 2012) – The CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council named Truliant Federal Credit Union a Best Practice Award winner during its 19th annual conference, which took place March 7-10 in New Orleans.

3/12/2012 - Truliant's Higher Rate Certificate Campaign

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (March 13, 2012) – Truliant Federal Credit Union is promoting its mission of enhancing financial lives by offering higher rate certificate specials to its member-owners through April 14. Options include 1.00% for an 18-month CD, 1.50% for a 24 month CD, 1.75% for a 48-month CD and 2.00% for a 60-month CD.

3/12/2012 - Truliant Opens First Middle School CU in NC

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (March 13, 2012) – Truliant Federal Credit Union hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, March 9 to celebrate the opening of its new middle school Member Financial Center located at Wiley Middle School in Winston-Salem.

2/20/2012 - Truliant to Appear on the Triad Today Show

Winston-Salem, N.C. (February 21, 2012) - Truliant Federal Credit Union will appear on the Triad Today Show, a locally-produced public affairs program. The Black History Month television special, featuring Truliant’s community outreach efforts, will air on Saturday, February 25 at 7:30 a.m. on ABC 45 and Sunday, February 26 at 11:00 a.m. on My48.

2/16/2012 - Truliant to Host Building a Better Budget Workshop

Winston-Salem, N.C. (February 17, 2012) – Truliant Federal Credit Union will host its no cost Building a Better Budget workshop on Wednesday, March 14 at the Fred J. Sarda Pavilion at 3200 Truliant Way in Winston-Salem from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The workshop will be presented by Truliant and feature a money management expert from the BALANCE Financial Fitness Program. The workshop is free and open to the public.

2/8/2012 - Leading the Charge to Bring More Jobs to NC

Winston-Salem, N.C. (February 9, 2012) – Representatives from Truliant Federal Credit Union traveled to Washington, DC this week (February 7 and 8) for the small business and credit union ‘Hike the Hill’ briefing, reception and press conference on Capitol Hill, where the representatives encouraged government officials to increase the small business member lending cap from 12.5% to 27.5%. Truliant was joined by two other North Carolina credit unions, small business owners who have been served by the credit unions and representatives of the North Carolina Credit Union League.

2/7/2012 - Ceremony for New Full-Service Asheboro MFC

Asheboro, N.C. (February 8, 2012) – After 20 years in Asheboro, NC, Truliant Federal Credit Union has relocated to a new full-service Member Financial Center in Randolph County. Truliant’s newest facility, located at 1055 East Dixie Drive, is less than a half-mile from their previous site. The location opened its doors on November 21, 2011.

2/1/2012 - CU Representatives from Mexico Visit Truliant

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (February 2, 2012) – Truliant Federal Credit Union hosted a delegation of five representatives from Caja Huastecas, a credit union from Central Mexico, in their offices at 3200 Truliant Way this week. This important cultural and technical exchange between Truliant and Caja Huastecas staff represented a unique opportunity for credit unions from different cultures to exchange ideas and information. Caja Huastecas has 27 branches, 30,000 members and assets of $40 million.

1/17/2012 - Truliant Provides Free Income Tax Preparation

Winston-Salem, N.C., (January 18, 2012) – As a service to the community, Truliant Federal Credit Union is hosting a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site in the Fred J. Sarda Pavilion Building at their headquarters at 3200 Truliant Way in Winston-Salem. VITA is a free tax preparation service for families and individuals who make up to $50,000 a year.

1/9/2012 - Truliant Recognized by the American Cancer Society

Winston-Salem, N.C. (January 10, 2012) – In an ongoing effort to support the community it serves, Truliant Federal Credit Union has been a proud sponsor of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event in Winston-Salem for 17 years. The Credit Union was recognized at a luncheon in Raleigh, NC on December 9, 2011, by the American Cancer Society as one of the top 30 fundraisers in North Carolina.
