WINSTON-SALEM, NC (Sept. 12, 2015) — Marc Schaefer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Truliant Federal Credit Union, has been named to the board of the Charlotte Regional Partnership.
The Charlotte Regional Partnership’s Board of Directors forms a powerful network of business leaders in the Charlotte region, including private business executives, academic leadership, and government officials from across its 16-country region.
The Partnership consistently ranks as one of the top economic development groups in the nation. As a major collaborator in economic-development projects, it is known for helping generate deals that make a significant impact in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region.
“I’m honored to serve with the Partnership’s President and CEO Ronnie Bryant and his team of seasoned professionals. We continue to benefit from the proactive work they do to help businesses locate and grow in this market,” Truliant’s Schaefer said.
“The Charlotte Regional Partnership is a key source of information and advice for businesses on how to engage and better serve the broader Charlotte-area communities and region. It understands the dynamics of a diverse regional economy and how to attract a healthy mix of businesses,” he added.
Schaefer joins the Partnership’s board as he leads a major expansion at Truliant that will give it a total of 14 Member Financial Centers in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region by the end of 2016. Since October 2014, the credit union has opened seven new branches in the region. Three additional Member Financial Centers are planned.
Schaefer has over 30 years of experience leading mission-driven credit unions. He has been President and CEO of Truliant since 1995. Focusing on a member-centric culture that improves members’ lives, Schaefer leads strategic innovation throughout the credit union to better serve member-owners with services and access channels that align with their ever-changing preferences.
He is a nationally recognized leader in the U.S. credit union movement and serves Truliant member communities in multiple roles, most recently in 2013 as Chairman of the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce and as a Board Member for The Center for International Understanding (CIU) in Raleigh.
In addition, he is an active member of the Carolinas Credit Union League Governmental Affairs Committee. Schaefer is a former member of the National Association of Federal Credit Unions Board and Executive Committee and has served on numerous boards and advisory councils in Winston-Salem and throughout the Piedmont Triad area.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
